Nabob is a small, unincorporated community located in the state of Wisconsin, United States. It is found within the town of West Bend, which is part of Washington County. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or a village. Instead, it's usually governed by the larger county or town it's located within.
Where is Nabob?
Nabob is situated in a rural area of Wisconsin. It is located about 4.5 miles (or about 7.2 kilometers) west of the city of West Bend. You can find Nabob near two important roads: Wisconsin Highway 33 and Wisconsin Highway 144. These highways help people travel to and from the community.
A Glimpse into Nabob's Past
Nabob has a bit of history connected to a local church. It was once the location of St. Mathias Catholic Church. While the church building may no longer be there, its graveyard still exists. Because of this church, the community is sometimes also called St. Mathias. This shows how important the church was to the area's identity.
In the past, Nabob even had its own post office. Records show that a Nabob post office was still operating in 1901. This means that people living in Nabob could send and receive mail directly in their community, which was a big convenience at the time.
