Nacka (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈnâkːa]) is a town in Sweden. It is the main town, or municipal seat, of Nacka Municipality. This means it's where the local government offices are located. Nacka is also part of the larger Stockholm urban area.
The name Nacka comes from a factory that was built in the 1500s. This factory used water power from mills near a farm called Nacka farmstead. Even though the factory was there, the main part of Nacka today is actually on land that used to belong to another farm, Järla farmstead, which is across Lake Järla.
What is a Municipal Seat?
A municipal seat is like the main office for a local government area. It's where the town hall is, and where decisions are made about things like schools, roads, and parks for the people living in that municipality.
Nacka's Location
Nacka is located in Stockholm County. This county is in the eastern part of Sweden. Being part of the Stockholm urban area means Nacka is very close to the big city of Stockholm.
