Naima Adedapo (born October 5, 1984) is an American singer and dancer. She is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Naima became well-known when she placed in the top 11 on the tenth season of American Idol.

About Naima's Early Life

Naima Adedapo was born in Maywood, Illinois. Her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when she was ten years old. Naima's mother, Adekola Adedapo, is a jazz singer in the Milwaukee area.

Naima went to St. Joan Antida High School. In her last year of high school, she won first place at a state competition. She gave a speech about African dance. Her brother helped by playing drums during her speech. Later, Naima studied Dance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

How Naima Joined the Show

Naima Adedapo tried out for the tenth season of American Idol. Her audition was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In the semi-final round, she was not one of the top five girls chosen by votes.

However, she was one of six singers picked for a "wild card" spot. The judges then chose three of these six singers to move on to the Top 13. Naima was one of the three chosen! On March 31, 2011, Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia were eliminated from American Idol.

Life After American Idol

After American Idol, Naima Adedapo joined the 2011 American Idols LIVE! Tour. She performed with the other top 11 contestants. The tour started in West Valley City, Utah, on July 6, 2011. It ended in Manila, Philippines, on September 20, 2011.

Naima and Thia Megia, who were both eliminated, also appeared on TV shows. They were on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Live with Regis and Kelly.

On November 20, 2015, Naima released a seven-song album called Beautifully Made. She helped write and produce all the songs on this album. Later, she signed a deal to write songs for Given Music Publishing.

In 2012, Naima Adedapo signed with Peak Records. This record label is part of eOne Music. Other artists like Sinead O'Connor and Fat Joe are also with this label.

Naima's Personal Life

Naima Adedapo is married. She has two daughters and three stepdaughters. Before her music career, she worked as a maintenance worker. This was at Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee, where the Summerfest music festival is held.
