Naina Yeltsina (born Anastasia Iosifovna Girina on March 14, 1932) is a very important person in Russian history. She is the wife of Boris Yeltsin, who was the first President of Russia. During her husband's time as president, from 1991 to 1999, she held the special role of the First Lady of Russia.

Early Life and Education
Naina Yeltsina was born in a place called Orenburg Oblast in 1932. When she was younger, she studied at the Ural Polytechnic Institute in a city then known as Sverdlovsk. She graduated from the construction part of the university in 1955. After finishing her studies, she worked on different building projects at the Sverdlovsk Institute.
Personal Life and Family
In 1956, Naina married Boris Yeltsin. They had met each other while they were both studying at the Sverdlovsk institute. The couple moved to Moscow in 1985, where Naina has lived ever since. They had two daughters together. Their first daughter, Yelena, was born in 1957. Their second daughter, Tatyana, was born in 1960.
Role as First Lady
As the First Lady of Russia, Naina Yeltsina did not often appear in public. However, she sometimes traveled with her husband on his trips to other countries. For example, she went with him on visits to Sweden and Finland in 1997. She also joined him on a trip to China in 1999.
Naina Yeltsina usually did not get involved in her husband's political work. But during the 1996 election, she did meet with voters. She also gave interviews to the media to support her husband. She made a very important public appearance in April 2007. This was at her husband's state funeral in Moscow.
Later Life and Autobiography
In 2017, Naina Yeltsina shared her life story in a book. She launched her autobiography at the Yeltsin Center. She also presented her book in Moscow.
