Nairn was a small place that used to be a settlement in Merced County, California. It's not there anymore, which is why it's called a "former settlement." It was located near the Southern Pacific Railroad.
What Was Nairn?
Nairn was situated about 6 miles (about 10 kilometers) east-northeast of a town called Atwater. It was at an elevation of 187 feet (57 meters) above sea level. This means it was not very high up.
Nairn appeared on maps made by the USGS until at least 1917. After this time, it was no longer shown on maps. This suggests that the settlement likely became empty or was no longer considered a distinct place.
