Nana Kagga (also known as Nana Kagga-Hill or Nana Hill or Nana Macpherson) is a talented Ugandan filmmaker, writer, and actress. She is known for her work behind and in front of the camera. Nana wrote and directed the 2012 film The Life. She was also a writer and executive producer for the TV series Beneath the Lies – The Series. She has written many other stories like Mukisa and Pieces of Me. Nana is also a co-owner of Savannah MOON, a film production company in Uganda.

About Nana Kagga's Early Life
Nana Kagga was born in Nairobi, Kenya. Her parents were from Uganda. Her father was an engineer. Nana is part of the Baganda tribe, a traditional ruling group in Uganda. She is one of six children. When she was born, her parents were living away from Uganda because of President Idi Amin. Nana grew up mostly in Uganda in a comfortable family. Many of her family members, including her father, are engineers. Today, Nana lives in Kampala, Uganda, with her three children. She speaks both English and Luganda fluently.
Nana Kagga's Education Journey
Nana Kagga went to Kampala Parents School for her early education. She then attended Gayaza High School, a top girls' school in Uganda. For her advanced studies, she went to Red Maids School in Bristol, UK. This is the oldest girls' school in the UK. Nana later studied at the University of Birmingham in the UK. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Nana was a great student in all subjects, including science, arts, and sports. During her summer breaks, she worked as a presenter for Jam Agenda on WBS, a popular TV show in Uganda.
Nana Kagga's Career Path
Working as an Engineer
After finishing college, Nana Kagga moved to the United States. She lived in Florida and then New Mexico. In New Mexico, she worked as a Process Engineer at Laguna Industries. There, she helped with projects for the US Military.
Nana Kagga's Time in Hollywood
Nana decided to follow her dream of acting and presenting in Los Angeles. She had some success there. In theater, she played Mercy in the play Butterflies of Uganda. This play was nominated for an NAACP award. Nana also appeared in music videos for famous artists like P!nk, Amy Winehouse, Sting, and Lenny Kravitz. She was also in many TV commercials for brands like KFC, Pepsi, Microsoft, and APPLE. While in Los Angeles, Nana also owned a vintage clothing store called A Vintage Affair.
Nana Kagga's Work in Uganda
In late 2009, Nana Kagga moved back to Uganda. She started her own company, Savannah MOON Ltd. Her company, Savannah MOON Productions, made a full-length movie called The Life. This movie was shown on M-NET. They also produced a TV series called Beneath The Lies – The Series. This series is shown on Urban TV and online by MTN Uganda. Savannah MOON has also helped produce other films and TV shows.
Nana also started an initiative called You are Limitless (YAL). This program helps motivate and guide young Africans to reach their full potential. Besides her film work, Nana also works as a Petroleum Engineer for an oil and gas company in Uganda. In 2018, she was one of the judges for the Miss Uganda pageant.
