Nana Kagga is a talented filmmaker, writer, and actress from Uganda. She is known for creating, writing, and directing movies and TV shows. Some of her famous works include the film The Life and the TV show Beneath the Lies – The Series. She also co-owns a production company called Savannah MOON, which makes films and shows in Uganda.

Early Life and Family
Nana Kagga was born in Nairobi, Kenya, to Ugandan parents. At the time, her family was living away from Uganda because of the country's leader, President Idi Amin. This is called being in "exile."
Kagga is a member of the Baganda tribe and belongs to the Bambejja, which is the traditional royal family, like princesses. She grew up in a well-off family in Uganda and is the third of six children. Interestingly, her father, grandfather, and four of her siblings are all engineers. Today, Kagga lives in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, with her three children. She can speak both English and Luganda fluently.
Education
Kagga went to Kampala Parents School for her primary education. For her high school years, she attended Gayaza High School, a top girls' school in Uganda. Later, she studied at Red Maids School in Bristol, England, which is the oldest girls' school in the United Kingdom.
After high school, Kagga went to the University of Birmingham in the UK. She earned a degree in chemical engineering. She was a great student who was good at science, art, and sports. During her summer breaks from college, she returned to Uganda and worked as a TV presenter on a popular show called Jam Agenda.
Career Journey
Working as an Engineer
After graduating from college, Kagga moved to the United States. She lived in Florida and then New Mexico. In New Mexico, she worked as a Process Engineer for a company called Laguna Industries. She worked on projects for the U.S. military, helping to make sure things were made correctly.
Acting in Hollywood
Kagga decided to follow her passion for acting and moved to Los Angeles. She found success and was cast in several movies. You might have seen her in films like Star Trek and He's Just Not That into You. She also appeared in TV shows like CSI: NY and Life.
She even acted in a stage play called Butterflies of Uganda, which was recognized with a nomination for a special award. Kagga also appeared in music videos for famous artists like P!nk, Amy Winehouse, and Sting.
Returning to Uganda
In late 2009, Kagga moved back to Uganda and started her own company, Savannah MOON Ltd. Her company produces movies and TV shows. It created the film The Life and the popular TV series Beneath The Lies – The Series.
Kagga also started a project called You are Limitless (YAL). This program helps to motivate and encourage young people in Africa to reach for their dreams. Besides her work in film, she also works as a Petroleum Engineer for an oil and gas company in Uganda. In 2018, she was one of the judges for the Miss Uganda beauty pageant.
