According to a researcher named Norman Tindale, the Nangatadjara's traditional lands covered a huge area. It was about 23,000 square miles (59,570 square kilometers). This land was in Western Australia.

Their country stretched far to the north and northeast. It reached areas near the Bailey, Virginia, and Newland Ranges. The Nangatadjara people also lived east of Lake Carey and Burtville. They traveled around the Jubilee and Plumridge lake areas. Their lands also included places like Lake Yeo, Rason, and the Bartlett Soak.

History of Contact

The Nangatadjara people moved west in the late 1800s. Around the 1890s, they shifted towards Burtville and Laverton. These movements happened during a time when more non-Aboriginal people were arriving in their traditional lands.
