The Nashville Children's Theatre (NCT) is a special place where young people can experience amazing plays! It's one of the oldest professional children's theatre companies in America that has been running continuously. NCT is part of important groups like the Theatre for Young Audiences and the ASSITEJ, which help theatres for kids all over the world. They also work with the Actors' Equity Association, a union for actors.
A Long History of Plays
The Nashville Children's Theatre started way back in 1931. It was created by the Junior League of Nashville, a group of women who wanted to help their community. Back then, it was called The Nashville Academy Theatre. Their very first show was "Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp." Over the years, NCT has performed in many different places, including the Belcourt Theatre, Vanderbilt University, and Belmont University. Time magazine once said that NCT was one of the top five children's theatres in the entire country! That's a huge honor.

The Nashville Children's Theatre has won many awards and been recognized for its great work. Here are some of their achievements:

- In 2010, Nashville Scene voted NCT the "Best Local Theater Company."
- Nashville Parent magazine also gave them the "Best Live Performance" award in 2010.
- In 2015, The Tennessean's Toast of Music City named them the "Best Local Theatre Company."
- In 2018, Broadway World Nashville recognized NCT as the "Best Professional Theatre."
