Natalie Ann Cassidy (born 13 May 1983) is an English actress and TV personality. She is best known for playing Sonia Fowler in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. Natalie has also appeared in other TV shows. These include the BBC Two comedy-horror series Psychoville in 2009. She was also a contestant on popular reality shows like Strictly Come Dancing (2009), Celebrity Big Brother (2012), and The Masked Singer (2025).

Natalie Cassidy's Acting Journey
Early Acting Days
Natalie Cassidy started acting when she was a child. She went to the Anna Scher Theatre to learn how to act. In 1993, she joined the cast of EastEnders. She played the character Sonia Jackson.
Leaving and Returning to EastEnders
In 2006, Natalie also appeared in an episode of The Catherine Tate Show on BBC Two. She played a rival to the character Lauren Cooper. On 9 April 2006, the BBC announced that Natalie would be leaving EastEnders. Her last scenes aired in February 2007.
After leaving EastEnders, Natalie worked in theatre. She performed in UK tours of plays like Bedroom Farce and Gertrude's Secret. She also appeared in The Cherry Orchard at the Chichester Festival Theatre.
In 2009, Natalie was cast in a supporting role in the BBC Two comedy series Psychoville. She worked alongside famous actors like Dawn French and Eileen Atkins. She also did voice-over work for the BBC Three show Underage and Pregnant.
On 25 October 2009, it was announced that Natalie would return to EastEnders as Sonia in 2010. She came back for a short time in February 2010 and for one episode in 2011. In 2014, she made a permanent return to the show.

In 2007, Natalie became well-known for losing a lot of weight. She released a fitness DVD called Natalie Cassidy's Then and Now Workout. In 2008, she starred in the BBC Three documentary Natalie Cassidy's Diet Secrets. She was also a regular guest on the TV show The Wright Stuff.
In 2010, the TV channel E4 made a reality show about Natalie called Natalie Cassidy: Becoming Mum. On 5 January 2012, she took part in series nine of Celebrity Big Brother. She was the fifth person to leave the house. Before returning to EastEnders full-time, Natalie hosted The Health Lottery on Channel 5.
In August 2020, Natalie appeared in the BBC comedy series Mandy. She also guest-starred in an episode of the BBC sitcom Motherland in 2021. In 2025, she competed in series six of The Masked Singer as the character Bush. She reached the semi-final. Around the same time, she announced that she would be leaving her role as Sonia in EastEnders again.
Natalie Cassidy on Strictly Come Dancing
In 2009, Natalie Cassidy joined Strictly Come Dancing for its seventh series. She was partnered with professional dancer Vincent Simone. They finished in fifth place in the competition.
Natalie Cassidy's Family Life
Natalie Cassidy has two daughters. Between 2009 and 2013, she had a relationship with Adam Cottrell. They have one daughter together.
Since 2014, Natalie has been in a relationship with cameraman Marc Humphreys. In October 2015, they announced their engagement. A few months later, in February 2016, Natalie shared that she was expecting her second child. She gave birth to their daughter in August 2016.
In January 2019, Natalie announced that she would run the London Marathon. She ran with some of her EastEnders co-stars. They ran to support a dementia campaign. This was in honor of their former castmate Barbara Windsor.
