Nate Hawthorne (born January 19, 1951 – died November 23, 2005) was an American professional basketball player. He played for three seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a shooting guard, known for his skills on the court.

Nate Hawthorne was born in Mount Vernon, Illinois. From a young age, he showed talent in basketball. He grew up playing the sport he loved.
Early Life and College Basketball
Nate went to Mt. Vernon High School in his hometown. After high school, he continued his basketball journey. He attended Southern Illinois University from 1970 to 1973. There, he played for the Southern Illinois Salukis team. His strong performance in college helped him get noticed by professional teams.
Playing in the NBA
In 1973, Nate Hawthorne was drafted into the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers picked him in the 7th round. He was the 118th player chosen overall.
He played one season with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1973–74 season. After that, he joined the Phoenix Suns. He played two seasons with the Suns, from 1974 to 1976. He wore jersey numbers 20 and 32 during his professional career.
Later Years
Nate Hawthorne's NBA career ended in 1976. He passed away on November 23, 2005. He was 54 years old. He died outside his home in Tempe, Arizona, due to a heart attack.
