Nathan George (born July 27, 1936 – died March 3, 2017) was an American actor. He worked in movies and plays from 1968 to 1997. He was known for his strong performances on stage and in films.

Nathan George's Stage Career

Nathan George was a very talented actor who also directed plays. In 1969, he won a special award called the Obie Award. He shared this award with another actor, Ron O'Neal. They won it for their work in a play called No Place to Be Somebody. This play was written by Charles Gordone and also won a Pulitzer Prize, which is a very important award for writing. Nathan George also received a Drama Desk Award for his acting in this play.

He also directed plays for the stage. In 1970, he directed a play called Who's Got His Own by Ron Milner. This play was shown at Center Stage in Baltimore. Later, in 1973, he directed Cummings and Bowings in New York. This play was based on poems by E.E. Cummings.

Nathan George's Film Roles

Nathan George appeared in many well-known films. Some of his movies include Klute (1971) and Serpico (1973). He also acted in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), which is a famous movie. In 1977, he played one of the main characters in the film Short Eyes. He was also in Brubaker (1980). His last movie was Harsh Light in 1997.

Nathan George passed away on March 3, 2017, in New York City.
