The National Capital Presbytery is an organization that helps guide and connect many Presbyterian churches. It is based in Rockville, Maryland. This group looks after 108 churches. These churches are located in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The National Capital Presbytery is part of a larger church group called the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic.

What is a Presbytery?

A presbytery is like a regional office for Presbyterian churches. It helps churches work together. It also makes sure they follow the rules and beliefs of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Leaders from different churches meet to make decisions for the whole group.

Working Together: Mission Networks

The National Capital Presbytery has special groups called Mission Networks. These networks are made up of at least seven churches. They join together to work on important issues or concerns. This way, churches can help each other and do more good.

These networks are guided by the Mission Coordination Committee. Currently, there are four main Mission Networks:

  • Global Mission Network: This group focuses on helping people around the world.
  • Earth Care Network: This network works on protecting our planet and caring for the environment.
  • Israel Palestine Network: This group focuses on issues related to peace and understanding in the Middle East.
  • Refugee Network: This network helps refugees and people seeking safety in new places.

You can learn more about these groups on the National Capital Mission website.
