How NCTU Started
The story of National Chiao Tung University began a long time ago, in 1896. It was first founded in China. This original university later became what is now known as Shanghai Jiao Tong University. So, NCTU in Taiwan shared a common root with a university in China.
Moving to New Homes
Over the years, the university moved to different places. In 1958, a new part of the university was set up in Taipei City, Taiwan. This was an important step in its history. Later, in 1979, the main campus moved again to Hsinchu City. Hsinchu is a city known for its technology and research, making it a perfect home for a university like NCTU.
Part of a University System
NCTU was also a key part of something called the University System of Taiwan. This system is like a group of universities that work together. NCTU was one of four universities in this special group. They shared resources and helped each other to provide the best education possible.
