National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) is a big research university located in Taichung, Taiwan. It's a place where many students go to learn and grow. NCHU is known for its strong programs in many different subjects.
This university is also part of the Taiwan Comprehensive University System. This is a group of top universities in Taiwan that work together.

A Look Back: NCHU's Journey
NCHU started a long time ago in 1919. It was first called the Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry. This school was in Tainan.
In 1928, it became a part of another big university, Taihoku Imperial University. Then, in 1943, it became independent again. It also moved to Taichung.
After Taiwan was handed over from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, the school changed its name. It became Taichung Agricultural Junior College. In 1946, it was upgraded to Taichung College of Agriculture.
The university continued to grow. In 1961, it joined with new colleges for science, engineering, law, and business. At this point, it became Chung Hsing University. Finally, in 1971, it became a national university. That's when it got its current name, National Chung Hsing University.
Exploring the Campus
The main campus of NCHU is in the south of Taichung City. It covers a large area, about 53 hectares. This is where most of the learning happens.
The campus has many different colleges. These include colleges for liberal arts, agriculture, science, engineering, and more. There are also colleges for life sciences, veterinary medicine, and social sciences. Plus, there's a special division for continuing education.
NCHU also owns four experimental forests. These forests are in different parts of Taiwan. They are located in New Taipei City, Nantou County, Taichung City, and Tainan City. The university also has two experimental farms. These farms are in Wufeng and Wuri Districts in Taichung City.

Learning with the World: International Programs
NCHU works with other important groups for learning. It takes part in the Taiwan International Graduate Program. This program focuses on molecular and biological agricultural sciences. It's a partnership with Academia Sinica. Academia Sinica is Taiwan's most important research institution.
