Cuivre River State Park Districts

Two of the historic places are located within the beautiful Cuivre River State Park, near Elsberry. These areas were added to the National Register on March 4, 1985.

Camp Sherwood Forest

The Camp Sherwood Forest Historic District is a special part of the park. It was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The CCC was a program during the Great Depression that put young men to work building parks and other public projects. This camp helped people enjoy nature and learn new skills.

Administrative Area

The Cuivre River State Park Administrative Area Historic District is another important part of the park. This area includes buildings and structures that were used to manage the park. Like Camp Sherwood Forest, many of these buildings were also constructed by the CCC. They show how parks were designed and run many years ago.

Downtown Troy Historic District

The Downtown Troy Historic District is in the heart of Troy. This area was added to the National Register on October 30, 2013. It includes many old buildings that tell the story of Troy's past.

Walking through this district is like taking a trip back in time. You can see how the town grew and changed over the years. These buildings often have unique architectural styles from different periods.

Lock and Dam No. 25 Historic District

Near Winfield, you'll find the Lock and Dam No. 25 Historic District. This important site was listed on March 10, 2004. Locks and dams are big structures built on rivers to help boats travel safely and to control water levels.

Lock and Dam No. 25 is part of a system that helps manage the Mississippi River. It shows how people have engineered solutions to use and control powerful rivers for transportation and trade.

Old Rock House

The Old Rock House is located in Moscow Mills. It was one of the first places in Lincoln County to be added to the National Register, way back on October 18, 1972.

This house is special because of how it was built and its age. It's a great example of early architecture in the area. Old houses like this give us clues about how people lived and built homes many years ago.
