Nawaf Bander Nawaf Al-Temyat (Arabic: نواف بندر نواف التمياط; born on June 28, 1976) is a former footballer from Saudi Arabia. He played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defense.

Playing for Clubs

Nawaf Al-Temyat spent his whole club career playing for Al-Hilal. He started with them in 1994 and retired in 2008.
In 2000, he was named the Asian Player of the Year. This is a big award for the best football player in Asia!
Sadly, he had many injuries between 2001 and 2004. These injuries stopped him from playing for a while. His last game for Al-Hilal was in 2008.
To celebrate his amazing career, a special retirement match was held. Al-Hilal played against the Italian team Inter Milan in Riyadh on January 2, 2010.
Playing for His Country
Nawaf Al-Temyat first played for the Saudi Arabian national team on May 17, 1998. This was in a friendly game against Namibia.
Just a few days later, he was chosen to play in the FIFA World Cup in France. He played in one match during that tournament, which was a draw against South Africa. He showed great skill in that game.
One year later, he also played in the FIFA Confederations Cup. His team finished in fourth place. Al-Temyat scored a goal against Mexico. He also helped set up two goals against Egypt and Brazil.
His best moment playing for his country was during the 2000 AFC Asian Cup. Saudi Arabia came in second place, losing to Japan in the final. Nawaf was chosen as one of the best players in the tournament.
Two years later, Al-Temyat went to the FIFA World Cup. He was a very important player and the biggest star for his team. However, Saudi Arabia did not win any points in that tournament.
How He Played
Nawaf Al-Temyat was a very creative and talented central midfielder. Many people thought he was one of the best young players in Saudi Arabia.
He had great energy and could run a lot during games. He also had good vision, meaning he could see where his teammates were and pass the ball well. His dribbling skills were also excellent. These qualities helped him control the middle of the field.
During his career, he was often compared to another great player, Fahad Al-Bishi. This was because they had a similar playing style. However, Nawaf was stronger and faster. Even with all his talent, he often had problems with injuries.
Life Outside Football
After retiring from playing, Nawaf Al-Temyat continued his education. He studied sports management and finished his degree in 2018.
He also became the president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. He held this important position between 2018 and 2019.
