Early Life and Education
Nazan Eckes was born in Germany. Her parents came from Eskişehir in Turkey. She finished high school in 1995 in Leverkusen. This diploma is called an Abitur in Germany. Her father worked in a company that made chemicals and medicines.
Starting Her TV Career
Nazan started her career at the music TV channel VIVA. First, she did an internship there. After that, she completed an 18-month training program to become a journalist. In 1998, she became a regular TV journalist for VIVA. From 1998 to 1999, she also worked as a reporter for a Turkish newspaper called Haftalık Posta.
In 1999, Nazan moved to Hamburg. She started presenting the weather forecast for the evening news show Guten Abend RTL. The next year, she presented the weather for the local news program Punkt 12.
Becoming a Well-Known Presenter
Since January 28, 2003, Nazan Eckes has regularly presented the RTL II News on weekdays. She also hosted the World Music Awards with Ole Tillmann. She presented a show called Deutschlands beste Doppelgänger, which was about people who looked like celebrities.
Nazan also briefly worked for RTL's Formula One coverage. She presented segments about the cities or countries hosting the races. This led to her own show called Formel Exclusiv. On this show, she talked about lifestyle and glamour topics related to Formula One.
From June 2004, she hosted a show called Life!.
Hosting Let's Dance
In 2006, Nazan Eckes became the host of "Let's Dance" with Hape Kerkeling. This show is the German version of the popular TV series Dancing with the Stars. In October 2006, she also presented a quiz show called Das große TV-Quiz. She even played a journalist in a German TV comedy movie called Crazy Race 3 – Sie knacken jedes Schloss.
In 2007, Nazan hosted the second season of Let’s Dance Again with Hape Kerkeling. She also presented a special TV show about the movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
In 2019, Nazan Eckes returned to Let’s Dance, but this time as a contestant. She competed in the show that she once hosted.
Other Work and Partnerships
From 2009 to 2010, Nazan Eckes was a spokesperson for the hair care brand Pantene Pro V in Germany.
In 2016, she partnered with Clinique, a beauty brand. She joined their Difference Initiative. This project aims to help and encourage women to get an education.
Family Life
Nazan Eckes was married to Claus Eckes from February 2000 until they divorced in 2007. In June 2012, she married Julian Khol. He is a painter and used to be a model. Julian is the youngest son of Andreas Khol, who is a well-known politician in Austria. Nazan and Julian have two children, both boys.
