Nazirul Naim bin Che Hashim (born on April 6, 1993) is a professional footballer from Malaysia. He plays as a left-back for the Malaysia Super League club Kuala Lumpur City. Nazirul is known for his strong defensive skills on the field.
He was born in Kuala Kangsar, a town in Perak, Malaysia. Nazirul started his education at Clifford Secondary School. He then moved to Bukit Jalil Sports School to continue his studies and begin his football journey.
Club Career Highlights
Starting with Harimau Muda
Nazirul joined the Harimau Muda B team when he was 17 years old. This team played in the Malaysia Premier League. Before this, he was part of the Bukit Jalil Sports School team. They won the President Cup in 2010.
The next year, Nazirul moved up to play for Harimau Muda A. This team competed in the Malaysia Super League. He played in 14 league games during his first season with them in 2011. In 2012, his team played in the Singaporean S.League. Nazirul played in 17 games that season.
Playing in Japan: F.C. Ryūkyū
On March 25, 2013, Nazirul signed a one-year contract with Japan Football League club F.C. Ryūkyū. He joined them after a two-week trial. However, his time there was cut short because of injuries. He returned to Harimau Muda A without playing in any official matches for the Japanese club.
Returning to Malaysia: Perak FC
On December 2, 2015, Nazirul signed with Perak, a club in the Malaysia Super League. He joined them after the Harimau Muda program ended in November.
His first game for Perak was on February 13, 2016. It was a home game against Kelantan, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw. He played for Perak until 2021, making 91 appearances and scoring 4 goals.
Later Clubs: Sabah and Kuala Lumpur City
After leaving Perak, Nazirul played for Sabah from 2021 to 2022. He made 21 appearances for them. Since 2023, he has been playing for Kuala Lumpur City.
International Appearances
Representing Malaysia's Youth Teams
Nazirul has played for the Malaysian national team at different age levels. He was part of the Malaysia U-17 squad. He also played for the Malaysia U-23 team.
Playing for the Senior National Team
Nazirul made his first appearance for the senior Malaysian national team on August 29, 2015. He came on as a substitute in a friendly match against Bangladesh. The game ended in a 0-0 draw at Shah Alam Stadium. He has represented Malaysia in 21 international matches.
