Cory Orville Reid (born on March 30, 1994), known by his stage name Nebu Kiniza, is an American hip hop artist. He was born in Queens, New York. He is famous for his song "Gassed Up", which came out on October 25, 2015. This song became very popular and was certified platinum in the United States by May 2018. Nebu Kiniza is signed to OSHS (On Some Hippy S**t) and RCA Records.

Early Life and Music Start

Nebu Kiniza's family moved from Queens, New York, to Pawling, NY, and then to Conyers, Georgia, when he was 10 years old. Conyers is a suburb near Atlanta. He learned a lot about the music world from his mother, who was a singer. When he was 15, while attending Rockdale County High School, he started freestyling. This is how he found out he had a special talent for music.

Nebu Kiniza's Music Journey

Nebu Kiniza began his music career by releasing his first song in 2011. In 2012, he released his first collection of songs, called a mixtape, titled 2 Peace Signs.

In 2013, he released his second mixtape, The Honor Roller. This mixtape included music videos for songs like "The Grind" and "Steez." The video for "Steez" was filmed in Atlanta's Little Five Points area. It became very popular, getting over 300,000 views on YouTube.

His third mixtape, Hypnosis, came out in 2014. This project featured music produced by the American record producer Sonny Digital. A song from this mixtape, "Myself," became his first big hit. It was even remixed by other artists like ILoveMakonnen and Key!.

As he grew in his career, Nebu Kiniza started his own music label called On Some Hippy Sh*t. This label was for himself and the producers he worked with.

"Gassed Up" and Its Success

Nebu Kiniza's most successful song so far is "Gassed Up." This song was produced by MexikoDro. He has mentioned that it only took him about 15 minutes to create the song! "Gassed Up" has been listened to over 52 million times on SoundCloud. It also has more than 34 million views on YouTube and over 80 million plays on Spotify. The song helped Nebu Kiniza reach #10 on the Next Big Sound chart in December 2016. "Gassed Up" also reached #15 on the Spotify Velocity chart and #18 on BigChampagne's Emerging Artist chart in March 2017.

What's in a Name?

Nebu Kiniza's stage name has an interesting story. He explained that when he was born, his aunt jokingly suggested naming him after King Nebuchadnezzar. He felt connected to this name throughout his life. When it was time to choose a stage name, he decided to adapt it. He shared that "Nebu stands for the golden one. Kiniza stands for being originally creative and artistic. So I put two-and-two together." His stage name is a reference to the ancient biblical King Nebuchadnezzar II.
