The Nef Glacier is a huge river of ice found in Laguna San Rafael National Park in Chile. It's located in the Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region, which is a beautiful part of southern Chile. This glacier flows from a mountain called Cerro Largo down into a lake that shares its name, Nef Lake.
Nef Glacier is a very important part of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field. This ice field is one of the largest ice masses outside of the North and South Poles! Nef Glacier is actually the fifth biggest glacier in this area. It's smaller than San Quintín, San Rafael, Steffen, and Colonia Glaciers, but it's still incredibly large.

What is a Glacier?
A glacier is like a giant, slow-moving river made of ice. It forms over many, many years when snow falls in one place and doesn't melt completely. As more snow falls, it piles up and gets pressed down. This pressure turns the snow into thick, dense ice.

Where is Nef Glacier Located?
Nef Glacier is in a special place called Laguna San Rafael National Park. This park is famous for its stunning landscapes, including glaciers, mountains, and lakes. It's a protected area, which means it's kept safe for nature and wildlife.
The glacier is in the Aysén Region of Chile. This region is known for its rugged beauty and wild, untouched areas. The glacier flows towards the southeast, ending in a lake. This lake is often filled with icy water and sometimes even icebergs that have broken off the glacier.
Nef Glacier's Size and Importance
Nef Glacier covers an area of about 164 square kilometers (which is about 63 square miles). To give you an idea, that's bigger than many cities! Its large size makes it a significant part of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field.
