Neil McDermott, born on December 15, 1980, is a British actor. He acts in plays on stage and in shows on television. He is most famous for playing a character named Ryan Malloy in the BBC TV show EastEnders.

Neil McDermott's Acting Career
Neil McDermott has appeared in many TV shows and movies. He was in an episode of Doctor Who called "The Next Doctor" in 2008. He also acted in shows like Casualty and Rosemary and Thyme.
He was in movies such as Goal! and Blooded. Neil also performed in many plays, including The Sound of Music in London's West End. The West End is like Broadway in New York, a famous area for theatres.
Joining EastEnders
Neil joined the cast of EastEnders in 2009. He played the character Ryan Malloy. In 2011, it was announced that Neil would be leaving the show. An EastEnders spokesperson said it was a choice made by both Neil and the show. They wished him well for the future. His exit from the show was very exciting for fans.
After EastEnders
After leaving EastEnders, Neil took on a new role. He played Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical. This musical was performed at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London's West End. He started this role in February 2012. The musical finished its run in February 2013, with Neil still playing Lord Farquaad.
Neil has returned to EastEnders a few times. He played Ryan Malloy again briefly in 2014, 2016, and in February 2023. In 2022, Neil also played the character Daedalus. This was for the cast album of a new musical called The Minotaur.
Neil McDermott's Personal Life
Neil McDermott is married to an actress named Michelle Edwards. They have two daughters and one son.
In January 2010, Neil and Michelle started their own youth theatre. It is called Mishmak Youth Theatre. They help young people learn about acting.
In September 2011, Neil ran a big race. It was called the Great North Run. He ran it with actress Charlie Brooks. They ran to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. This charity helps people with serious illnesses.
