Olavo Rodrigues Barbosa, known by his nickname Nena, was a Brazilian football player. He was born on July 11, 1923, in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Nena played as a defender and was a very important part of his teams. He passed away on November 17, 2010.

Nena's Football Journey
Nena started his football career in 1940. He played for a club called Internacional in Porto Alegre. He stayed with this team until 1949. During his time there, Nena helped his club win eight state championships!
In 1949, Nena moved to another club. This new team was Portuguesa in São Paulo. With Portuguesa, he won the Torneio Rio – São Paulo tournament twice. These wins happened in 1952 and 1955.
Nena stopped playing football professionally in 1958. However, he continued to work with the club. He became an assistant coach and helped with other club duties. In the 1960s, he also worked as a youth coach. He helped young players at Corinthians.
Playing for Brazil
Nena also had the chance to play for his country. Between 1947 and 1952, he played five games for the Brazilian national team.
He was also chosen to be part of Brazil's team for the 1950 FIFA World Cup. This big tournament was held in Brazil. The Brazilian team finished as the runner-up, meaning they came in second place. Even though Nena was on the team, he did not get to play in any of the World Cup matches.
Later Life
In 2003, Nena moved to Goiânia. This city is the capital of the state of Goiás in Brazil. He moved there with his wife. Nena was a father to five children. He sadly passed away in 2010 from lung cancer.
