Neptune Lake is found near where two major roads, U.S. Route 45 and U.S. Route 8, meet. It's about 5 miles (8.0 km) north of a bigger lake called Pelican Lake. You can also find it about 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of a small community named Monico. Two smaller lakes, Mars Lake and Venus Lake, are also very close by.

About Neptune Lake

Neptune Lake covers an area of about 127 acres (0.51 km2). To give you an idea, that's like 96 football fields! It's considered a shallow lake because its deepest point is only about 7 feet (2.1 m). This means you could probably stand up in most parts of the lake.

The lake is also described as mesotrophic. This is a fancy word that means it has a medium amount of nutrients. This balance of nutrients is good for plants and animals living in the lake. It helps keep the lake healthy and full of life.

Fishing Fun

Neptune Lake is a popular place for fishing, especially for what are called panfish. Panfish are smaller fish that are often caught for eating. They are called panfish because they fit nicely in a frying pan!

You can find several types of fish in Neptune Lake. Some of the most common ones include:

  • Largemouth Bass: These are popular sport fish known for their fighting spirit. They have a big mouth, as their name suggests!
  • Northern Pike: These fish are long and slender with sharp teeth. They are exciting to catch because they are fast and strong.
  • Bluegill: These are a type of panfish. They are small, round, and often have a dark spot on their gill cover. Bluegill are very common and fun for young anglers to catch.

Fishing in Neptune Lake is a relaxing way to spend time outdoors. It's a great place to try and catch some fish, whether you're an experienced angler or just starting out.
