Nerima is one of the 23 special areas, called wards, that make up Tokyo, Japan. This area is often called "Nerima City" in English.
Nerima is famous for being "the town of animation". This is because some of the very first anime companies started here! It's a really important place for Japanese cartoons.

A Look at Nerima's Past
Nerima became its own special ward on August 1, 1947. Before that, it was part of another ward called Itabashi. This separation helped Nerima grow and develop on its own.
Where is Nerima Located?
Nerima is on the western side of Tokyo. It shares its borders with several other areas:
- To the south, you'll find Nakano and Suginami.
- On its western side are Musashino and Nishitokyo.
- The northern border touches Saitamo Prefecture, which is a different part of Japan.
- To the east, it borders Itabashi and Toshima.
There is also a long river that flows through Nerima, adding to its natural beauty.
