The Netcher Road Bridge is a special covered bridge located in Jefferson Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio, USA. It's one of the newer covered bridges in the county, built in 1998. This bridge is one of 17 covered bridges in Ashtabula County that you can still drive across!

The Netcher Road Bridge has a unique "Neo-Victorian" style. It's made from timber arches and uses a special design called "inverted Haupt walls." The money to build this bridge came from a grant given by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

This bridge is about 2.0 miles (3.2 km) east of Jefferson. It also has a special number in the World Guide to Covered Bridges: 35-04-63.

Building the Netcher Road Bridge

The Netcher Road Bridge was built in 1998. The main builder was John Smolen, Jr. He is known for building many covered bridges in the area.

A Special Design

The bridge uses a design called a "single span." This means it crosses the water with one long section, without any support in the middle. The timber arches help make the bridge strong. The "inverted Haupt walls" are part of the special way the wood pieces are put together to hold up the bridge. This design makes it both sturdy and beautiful.

How the Bridge Was Funded

Building a bridge costs a lot of money. The Netcher Road Bridge was built thanks to a special "Timber Grant" from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). This grant helped pay for the materials and work needed to create this amazing wooden bridge.

Bridge Size and Features

The Netcher Road Bridge is quite long. It stretches for 110 feet (33.5 meters) across the water. It is also 22 feet (6.7 meters) wide. This makes it big enough for cars to drive through comfortably.
