Netty Simons facts for kids
Netty Simons (born October 26, 1913, died April 1, 1994) was an American musician. She was a talented pianist, a music editor, and a teacher. Netty Simons also wrote her own music as a composer.
About Netty Simons
Netty Simons was born in New York City. She started learning music at the Third Street Music School. Later, she went to New York University. There, she studied with famous musicians like Marion Bauer and Percy Grainger from 1931 to 1937. She also taught music at the Third Street Music School from 1928 to 1933.
In 1933, Netty Simons began studying at the Juilliard School of Music. She learned from Alexander Siloti. Later, in 1938, she studied with the composer Stefan Wolpe.
From 1961 to 1962, she helped organize concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She was a producer and coordinator for these events. In 1971, she won an award from the Ford Foundation for her music recordings. Her important papers and musical notes are kept safe at the New York Public Library and the Vassar College Libraries.
