New Carlisle is a town in Olive Township, St. Joseph County, in the state of Indiana, United States. It is a small community that is part of the larger South Bend area. In 2020, about 1,891 people lived in New Carlisle.

History of New Carlisle
New Carlisle was first known as Bourissa Hills. This name came from Lazarus Bourissa, a member of the Potawatamie Native American tribe. He received this land as part of a treaty.
The town was officially planned in 1835 by Richard Risley Carlisle, who came from Philadelphia. He named it New Carlisle. The town's post office has been open since 1837.
Some important buildings in New Carlisle are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These include the New Carlisle Historic District and the Jeremiah Service House. This means they are special places that are protected because of their history.
New Carlisle is also home to the Honeysuckle solar power station. This is a very large solar farm that started making electricity in 2024. It helps provide clean energy.

Transportation
In the past, the South Shore Line train used to have a stop in New Carlisle. This train helps people travel to Chicago. However, the New Carlisle stop was closed in 1994.
Today, the closest South Shore Line station is in Hudson Lake, a nearby town. The closest Amtrak train station is in South Bend, Indiana. There have been talks about possibly building a new South Shore Line station in New Carlisle in the future.
Religion
New Carlisle has several churches. The New Carlisle United Methodist Church is located on E Compton Street. They help the community with things like a food pantry.
There is also a place called the Monastery of the Nativity of the Mother of God. It is a monastery for nuns and is part of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The movie Prancer, which came out in 1989, had some scenes filmed in New Carlisle.
