New Santa Fe is a small community located in Miami County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of Butler Township.
A Bit of History
New Santa Fe began because of a railroad! Back in the early 1900s, the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway was building new tracks. These tracks were planned to go near an older town called Santa Fe.
However, the railway ended up going a little bit away from the old town. So, a new community started right where the railway tracks were built. This new community was named "New Santa Fe" because it was close to the older Santa Fe town. We know exactly when this new place was officially planned out: the map, or "plat," for New Santa Fe is from 1902. So, the railway helped create this community over 120 years ago!
