New Tulsa was a small town in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, in the United States. In the year 2000, about 568 people lived there. The town was officially closed down in 2001 after its residents voted for it. Now, the area that was once New Tulsa is part of the nearby city of Broken Arrow.
The Story of New Tulsa
New Tulsa started as a community in Wagoner County. It was first called Oak Grove when it became an official town. But in 1968, the community decided to change its name to New Tulsa.
In 1980, only 17 people lived in New Tulsa. The local general store, which was an important place for the community, closed in 1975. Even after the store closed, more people moved to New Tulsa. By 1980, the population grew to 252 people. It continued to grow, reaching 272 people by 1990.
