New York is a small, quiet community located in Santa Rosa County, Florida, United States. It's not a big city like New York City, but a peaceful unincorporated area. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It is about 17 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Milton.
History of New York, Florida
This community got its unique name from a small store. The store was run by a person named Willy Penton, who lived from 1893 to 1928. People started calling the area "New York" because of his store.
The community has a very peaceful history. In fact, the only known incident recorded was in 1976. Someone took a garden plow, but that's the only notable event mentioned in its past.
