History of Newborn
Newborn got its special name after a famous preacher from the 1800s, Samuel Porter Jones, gave a sermon. The town decided to name itself "Newborn" based on the idea of being "born again," which is an important concept in some Christian faiths. The state's law-making group, the Georgia General Assembly, officially made Newborn a town in 1894.
