Nibinamik First Nation is a small community in Northern Ontario, Canada. It is also known as the Summer Beaver Band. The name Nibinamik comes from the Ojibway language, meaning "Summerbeaver."
This community is an Indian settlement for the Oji-Cree people. It is located on the Summer Beaver Settlement. The settlement is connected to other places by its own airport and a special winter road. This winter road is made of ice and snow and can only be used in cold weather.

The Story of Nibinamik
The community of Summer Beaver started in 1975. A group of Anglican people, who were related, decided to move. They wanted to leave Lansdowne House. They felt they could build a better life for their families at Nibinamik Lake.
The Canadian government was not sure about this move at first. They did not offer much support for a long time. Nibinamik was only recently recognized as an official reserve. This recognition is important for the community's future.
Connecting Nibinamik to the World
Getting to and from Nibinamik is mainly by air. The community has its own airport, the Summer Beaver Airport. In winter, a special ice road connects it to the Northern Ontario Resource Trail. This road helps bring supplies and people to the community.
In 2017, the government of Ontario made a promise. They pledged to support building a new road. This road would connect Nibinamik, Webequie, and the Northern Ontario Ring of Fire. It would link them to Ontario Highway 599 at Pickle Lake. This new road will make it easier for people and goods to travel.
