Nicholas Micozzie was an American politician. He was born on September 7, 1930, and passed away on July 28, 2020. He was a member of the Republican Party. From 1979 to 2014, he served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He represented the 163rd district.
Growing Up and School
Nicholas Micozzie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents were Camillo and Josephine Micozzie. He went to St. Thomas More High School.
After high school, he continued his education. He earned a degree in business from St. Joseph's College in 1963. Later, in 1968, he got a degree in electrical engineering from Villanova University.
Micozzie also served his country. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force. He served from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War.
His Work in Politics
Before becoming a state representative, Micozzie worked in other fields. He worked for General Electric and also in real estate.
His political career began in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. He was elected as a commissioner there. At that time, he was a member of the Democratic Party. He served as commissioner from 1971 to 1989.
In 1978, he changed his political party. He became a Republican. That same year, he was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He represented the 163rd district. He was reelected many times. He served seventeen terms in a row. He retired from this role in 2014.
Family Life
Nicholas Micozzie was married and had a family. He and his wife had three children. They also had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His son, Thomas Micozzie, later became the mayor of Upper Darby.
Nicholas Micozzie passed away on July 28, 2020. This was after he had a fall a few days earlier.
