Nicholas Charles Dempsey (born August 13, 1980, in Norwich, England) is a British windsurfer who has now retired from the sport. He lives in Poole, Dorset. Nick made history by becoming the first man to win three Olympic medals in windsurfing! He earned a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, another silver at the 2012 London Olympics, and a bronze medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He also became a world champion twice, winning gold in 2009 and 2013.

Nick Dempsey's Windsurfing Journey

Nick Dempsey started his international career with great success. In 1998, he won a bronze medal at the Mistral Youth World Championships. As an adult, his first big win was at the North Sea Cup Series in Pevensey Bay. He also placed third in the Kiel Week competition.

Early Olympic Appearances

At the 2000 Summer Olympics, Nick finished in 16th place. He continued to win many competitions in the following years. These included the Athens Eurolymp Week, Kieler Woche, and the Spa Regatta. His hard work paid off when he won the bronze medal in windsurfing at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Switching to the RS:X Class

Later, Nick switched to a different type of windsurfing board called the RS:X class. He quickly became very successful in this new class. He won many races and reached the top spot in the RS:X world rankings. In 2006, he won the gold medal at the RS:X European Championships. He then finished 5th at the 2006 RS:X World Championships.

Olympic Medals and Records

At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Nick finished in 4th place in the RS:X Class windsurfing event. He was very close to winning another medal, just two points behind the bronze medalist.

His dedication paid off at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Nick won the silver medal in the RS:X Class windsurfing event. He finished just behind Dorian van Rijsselberge from the Netherlands.

Nick continued his amazing performance at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. He won another silver medal in the RS:X Class, again finishing behind van Rijsselberge. With these three Olympic medals, Nick Dempsey became the most successful male Olympic windsurfer ever!

Nick Dempsey's Family Life

Nick Dempsey was married to yachtswoman Sarah Ayton from 2008 to 2012. They have two sons together. Later, he married another yachtswoman, Hannah Mills, and they have a daughter.
