Early Life and High School Basketball
Nicholas Wiggins grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He started playing high school basketball at Vaughan Secondary School. Later, he moved to Tallahassee, Florida, for his junior year. There, he attended Godby High School. During the 2008–09 season, Wiggins was known as one of Florida's best high school players.
College Basketball Journey
Playing for Junior Colleges
Wiggins began his college basketball career at Vincennes University. In his first year (2010–11), he scored an average of 16.6 points per game. After that, he moved to Wabash Valley College for his second year (2011–12). He played very well, averaging 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. His strong performance earned him second-team All-American honors. He also helped his team reach an eighth-place finish in the NJCAA Tournament.
Time at Wichita State
For his junior year, Wiggins transferred to Wichita State. In the 2012–13 season, he was named to the MVC All-Bench team. He averaged 4.9 points and 1.8 rebounds over 36 games. In his senior year (2013–14), he played another 36 games. During this season, he averaged 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting in Germany
After college, Nicholas Wiggins was not chosen in the 2014 NBA draft. However, he joined the Sacramento Kings for the 2014 NBA Summer League. On July 26, 2014, he signed a one-year contract with Tigers Tübingen in Germany. He played 11 games for them, averaging 5.5 points. He left the team on December 3, 2014.
Playing in the NBA D-League
On January 9, 2015, Wiggins joined the Idaho Stampede in the NBA Development League. He played 28 games for them in the 2014–15 season. He averaged 9.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
In July 2015, Wiggins played in the NBA Summer League again. He joined the Utah Jazz and then the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves signed him on September 18, 2015, but later let him go. He returned to the Stampede briefly before joining Raptors 905. He played 10 games for Raptors 905, averaging 4.0 points.
Teams in Australia and Macedonia
In 2016, Wiggins signed with the Mackay Meteors in Australia. He played eight games for them, averaging 21.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. Later that year, he signed a short contract with Rabotnički in Macedonia. He played eight games there, averaging 10.1 points.
Playing in Canada and Indonesia
In January 2017, Wiggins joined the Orangeville A's in the National Basketball League of Canada. He played eight games for them, averaging 5.8 points. In January 2024, Wiggins signed with Pacific Caesar Surabaya in Indonesia.

Nicholas Wiggins comes from a very athletic family. Both of his parents are famous athletes. His father, Mitchell Wiggins, was a great basketball player at Florida State University. He played six seasons in the NBA. His mother, Marita Payne, was an amazing sprinter. She was an NCAA All-American 21 times and won two silver medals for Canada at the 1984 Olympic Games.
Nicholas has two brothers, Mitchell and Andrew, and three sisters, Stephanie, Angelica, and Taya. His brother, Andrew Wiggins, is also a professional basketball player. Andrew was the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft.
