Early Battles and Raids

In 1689, Nicolas de Manthet joined an attack. This attack was against the Senecas near the Lake of Two Mountains. This battle was very important. It helped protect the fur trade for that year. The fur trade was a big part of Canada's economy then.

In 1690, Nicolas de Manthet led a group of soldiers. He worked with Jacques le Moyne de Sainte-Hélène. They led 114 Canadian soldiers and 96 Native American allies. Their mission was to attack Schenectady. This event is known as the Schenectady massacre.

Two years later, in 1692, he took part in another raid. This time, the target was the towns of the Mohawk. These raids were part of larger conflicts. They were fought between the French, English, and Native American groups.

Final Battle at Fort Albany

Nicolas de Manthet continued to serve bravely. His last battle was in 1709. He was leading an attack against Fort Albany. This fort was located in the Hudson Bay area. During this battle, Captain de Manthet was killed. He died fighting for his country.
