Nicole Jaffe (born May 23, 1941) is a Canadian actress and businesswoman. She is most famous for being the first voice of Velma Dinkley in the popular Scooby-Doo cartoons.

Nicole Jaffe's Early Career

Nicole Jaffe started her acting career in the late 1960s. She appeared in a few movies. One of her roles was in The Love Bug (1968), a fun Disney film. She also acted alongside Elvis Presley in The Trouble with Girls (1969).

Becoming Velma Dinkley

A big moment in Nicole's career was when she played Patty in a stage play called You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. A director from Hanna-Barbera, Gordon Hunt, saw her. He thought her voice would be perfect for a new cartoon character.

That character was Velma Dinkley from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!. Nicole Jaffe became the original voice of the smart, glasses-wearing Velma. The show quickly became a huge hit.

Scooby-Doo Adventures

Nicole voiced Velma in the first two seasons of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! from 1969 to 1970. During the second season, the actress who voiced Daphne left the show. Nicole suggested her roommate, Heather North, for the role. Heather North then voiced Daphne for many years.

Nicole continued to voice Velma in the spin-off series The New Scooby-Doo Movies from 1972 to 1974. She also appeared in a TV show called Room 222 in 1970.

Life After Voice Acting

In 1973, Nicole Jaffe decided to stop acting full-time. She started a new career helping other actors find jobs. This is called being a talent agent. She used her married name, Nicole David, for this work.

She became a very successful agent. She helped many famous actors and singers with their careers. Some of her clients included John Travolta and Whitney Houston. She worked as a senior agent for a big company called William Morris Endeavor until 2013.

Returning to Velma

Even though she was busy as an agent, Nicole occasionally returned to voice Velma. She did this for special Scooby-Doo projects between 1977 and 2003. Her last times voicing Velma were for two direct-to-video movies in 2003: Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire and Scooby-Doo! and the Monster of Mexico.
