Nijal Pearson, born on November 21, 1997, is an American basketball player. He recently played for the Rostock Seawolves team in Germany's top basketball league, the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). Before becoming a professional, he played college basketball for the Texas State Bobcats.

Growing Up and High School Basketball
Nijal grew up in Beaumont, Texas. He went to Central High School. In his final year of high school, he was a star player. He scored about 18.5 points per game. He also grabbed seven rebounds and made nine assists in each game. Because of his great skills, he was named the co-MVP (Most Valuable Player) for his district. He also earned an All-State honor.
College Basketball Career
Nijal Pearson played college basketball for the Texas State Bobcats. He was a starter from his very first year.
Freshman Year (2016-2017)
As a freshman, Nijal played as a small forward. He scored 13.3 points per game. This was the second-highest on his team. He also got 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
Sophomore Year (2017-2018)
In his second year, Nijal led his team in scoring. He averaged 15.2 points per game. He also had 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He was recognized for his strong play. He was named to the third team All-Sun Belt Conference.
Junior Year (2018-2019)
Nijal continued to excel in his junior year. He was named to the first team All-Sun Belt. He averaged 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. He also won the MVP award at the 2018 Portland Classic tournament. He scored 33 points in the final game against Portland.
Senior Year (2019-2020)
Nijal made history in his senior year. On January 18, 2020, he became Texas State's all-time leading scorer. He broke a record that had stood for 60 years! He scored his 2,000th career point on February 20, 2020. This happened in a game against Georgia Southern. He was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. This is a very big award for college players. He finished his senior year averaging 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Nijal Pearson began his professional basketball career.
- 2020-2021: In May 2020, Nijal joined Chorale Roanne Basket. This team plays in the LNB Pro A league in France.
- 2021: On January 30, 2021, he moved to Finland. He signed with Lahti Basketball in the Finnish Korisliiga league.
- 2021-2023: On August 19, 2021, Nijal signed with the Rostock Seawolves in Germany. They played in the ProA league. He helped them win the ProA championship in 2022.
- 2023-2024: On July 31, 2023, he joined CSM Oradea. This team plays in the Romanian Liga Națională.
- 2024-2025: On September 28, 2024, Nijal returned to the Rostock Seawolves. This time, they were playing in the top German league, the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
Personal Life
Nijal Pearson's mother is Stephanie Lartigue-Pearson. He has an older brother named Elijah. His oldest brother, Nico, sadly passed away in 2010. Nijal has a girlfriend named Kayla McNutt. They welcomed their daughter, Nova Lael Pearson, on February 8, 2020. After a game, Nijal quickly traveled to see his newborn daughter.
