Nikki van Dijk was born on November 28, 1994. She is an Australian professional surfer. This means she surfs for a living and competes against other top surfers from around the world. She has competed in the World Surf League, which is the highest level of international professional surfing.

Nikki's Surfing Journey

Nikki van Dijk started her surfing career strong. In 2012, she won the women's world junior title in Bali. This was a big win for young surfers under a certain age.

Becoming a Pro Surfer

In 2013, Nikki joined the Association of Surfing Professionals' Qualifying Series. This is where surfers compete to earn enough points to join the main tour. She finished that year by winning the Pantin Classic Galicia Pro in Spain. This win helped her qualify for the ASP Women's Championship Tour.

As a new surfer, also called a rookie, Nikki finished 13th on the 2014 Women's Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour. This was a great start for her first year on the main tour.

Competing at the Top Level

Nikki continued to surf at the highest level of the sport until 2021. She competed in the World Surf League (WSL), which took over from the ASP tour. In May 2015, she had one of her best results in a WSL competition in Fiji. She made it to the quarter-finals, which means she was one of the top eight surfers in that event.

In 2021, she finished 13th on the WSL tour. This was just below the spot needed to automatically qualify for the 2022 season.

More Wins and Best Year

While on the main tour, Nikki also competed in some Qualifying Series events. In June 2015, she won the Los Cabos Open of Surfing at Zippers beach in Mexico.

The year 2015 was Nikki van Dijk's best year on the WSL tour. She reached the quarter-finals six times in a row! She finished the season in 9th place overall. This great performance helped her qualify to compete on the WSL tour again in 2016.
