Legacy of the Green Ninja is the second season of the exciting animated TV show, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. Michael Hegner and Tommy Andreasen created the series. This season aired from July 18, 2012, to November 21, 2012. It came after the first season, Rise of the Snakes, and before the third season, Rebooted.
This season was actually planned to be the last one. The show and its Lego Ninjago toys were meant to be a three-year project. But fans loved the TV show and the toys so much that the creators decided to keep the series going!
In Legacy of the Green Ninja, the ninja team trains their newest member, Lloyd Garmadon. They need to get him ready for a big battle that was predicted long ago. Lloyd's father, Lord Garmadon, returns as a villain with tricky plans. His magic even makes Lloyd grow up into a teenager quickly! This season also introduces Lloyd's mother, Misako. Plus, a new main villain, the Overlord, is revealed, leading to an epic final battle.

What Happens in the Story
The ninja start training Lloyd to prepare him for his big fight against his father, Garmadon. Meanwhile, Garmadon gathers the Serpentine and rebuilds the ninja's ship, the Destiny's Bounty, calling it the Black Bounty. He also combines the Golden Weapons into a super powerful Mega Weapon.
Garmadon uses his new weapon to bring back the original crew of the Destiny's Bounty, led by Captain Soto. They sail the ship to Ninjago City, but the ninja fight them off. Garmadon escapes with the Bounty. He then creates evil copies of the ninja to try and defeat them. The real ninja visit Darkley's School and get trapped, forcing them to fight their own clones.
Later, the ninja decide to join a race called the Ninjaball Run. They want to win the grand prize to save Dareth's Mojo Dojo. Garmadon also enters the race to stop them. After a close fight, the ninja win, and Lloyd gets the Bounty back.
At the Ninjago Museum of History, Garmadon uses the Mega Weapon to bring back a creature called the Grundal. When the ninja arrive, Garmadon's weapon hits them, turning them into children! They have to defend themselves from the Grundal in a comic book store. Master Wu and Nya arrive with a special "Tomorrow's Tea." Lloyd uses the tea to turn the Grundal back into bones. The ninja return to their normal ages, but Lloyd quickly grows up into a teenager.
Garmadon tries to change the past by stopping the ninja team from ever forming. The original four ninja follow him through a time portal to the moment Wu first met Kai. They fix the timeline by using the past Golden Weapons to blast Garmadon's Mega Weapon into space. Back at the Ninjago Museum, Lloyd finally meets his mother, Misako.
After being tricked by Skales, Garmadon ends up on the Dark Island. There, he hears the voice of the Overlord. The venom from the Great Devourer seeps underground in Ninjago, bringing a Stone Army to life. This army causes chaos in Ninjago City. Garmadon takes control of the Stone Army using the Helmet of Shadows.
The ninja travel to the Dark Island to stop Garmadon. They reach the Temple of Light to get stronger elemental powers and give Lloyd Golden Power. However, they can't stop the Celestial Clock from counting down to the final battle. Garmadon's super weapon, the Garmatron, starts firing dark matter into Ninjago. The Overlord is revealed to be the dark lord from the prophecy. He takes over Garmadon and heads to Ninjago with his army.
The ninja return to Ninjago on the Ultra Dragon. They have to protect Lloyd as they are hit by dark matter, leaving Lloyd to face the Overlord alone. The Overlord turns into a giant dragon. But Lloyd uses his Golden Power to defeat the Overlord in a huge burst of light. This cleanses Garmadon of evil and turns Lloyd into the Golden Ninja!
