Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Ninpei, also known as Nimpyō, was a special way of naming years in Japan. It's like how we have different "eras" or "periods" today. This time period came after an era called Kyūan and before one called Kyūju. The Ninpei era began in January 1151 and finished in October 1154. During these years, the emperor of Japan was Emperor Konoe.

Important Events During the Ninpei Era

  • 1151 (Ninpei 1, 1st month): A powerful leader named Fujiwara no Yorinaga was given an important job. He had to read all official requests before they were shown to the emperor. This made sure everything was correct and ready for the emperor to see.
  • April 13, 1152 (Ninpei 2, 7th day of the 3rd month): Emperor Konoe visited the home of his father, the former Emperor Toba. This visit was to celebrate Emperor Toba's 50th birthday.
  • January 28, 1153 (Ninpei 3, 2nd day of the 1st month): Emperor Konoe visited his father's home again.
