Nivea B. Hamilton (born March 24, 1982), known simply as Nivea, is an American R&B singer. She has released several albums, including her first one called Nivea (2001), Complicated (2005), Animalistic (2006), and Mirrors (2019).

Her song "Don't Mess with My Man" was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2003. This award was for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

Early Life

Nivea was born in Savannah, Georgia. She is the youngest of three sisters. As a child, she sang in a church choir. She also looked up to the music of Mariah Carey.

Nivea has said she was very shy about singing when she was younger. She mentioned that her parents would turn down the radio. This would make her stop singing right away.

Music Career

Early Success (2000–2003)

In 2000, Nivea was featured on Mystikal's popular song "Danger (Been So Long)". This helped her get noticed in the music world. After this success, she signed with Jive Records.

Her first solo song, "Don't Mess with the Radio", came out in 2001. It did fairly well on the music charts. Her record label then decided to release her first album, Nivea, in Australia and Japan first. The album was released in the United States in September 2001.

In August 2002, Nivea released her second U.S. single, "Don't Mess with My Man". It featured Brian and Brandon Casey from the R&B group Jagged Edge. This song became a big hit. It helped her first album sell more copies. The next year, "Don't Mess with My Man" was nominated for a Grammy Award.

The third single from her album was "Laundromat". This song featured singer R. Kelly. The music video also starred comedian Nick Cannon. This single was another success for Nivea.

New Albums and Changes (2004–2008)

After her first album did well, Nivea started working on her second album. She released a song called "You Wanna Touch Me" with rappers Rasheeda and Akon.

She then met and started dating Terius "The-Dream" Nash. He became the main producer for her new album. In 2005, she released the first song from the project, "Okay". It featured YoungbloodZ and Lil' Jon. This song also became a hit.

Her second album, Complicated, was released in May 2005. It reached high spots on the R&B and Billboard charts. A second song, "Parking Lot", was released. Soon after, Nivea became pregnant with her first child. Jive Records stopped promoting the album. Nivea later left the label.

In 2006, Nivea signed a new contract with Formula Records. Her third album, Animalistic, was released in Japan in November 2006. Her then-husband, The-Dream, produced most of it. The song "Watch It" was released from this album. Plans for a U.S. release were later canceled. Nivea then took a break from music to focus on her children after her divorce.

New Music and Collaborations (2009–2014)

In 2010, Nivea released a song called "Love Hurts". It featured rapper Lil Wayne. She also appeared on other artists' mixtapes.

She later announced an acoustic album called Nivea: Undercover. In early 2011, she released the first song from it, a cover of the Sade song "Love Is Stronger Than Pride". The album was released on its own in September 2011. She also worked with George Reefah on the song "Bump".

In 2012, Nivea announced she was working on her fourth album. It was first called "Purple Heart". The next year, she changed the album's name to Nivea Revealed. She released a new song called "Loud Blunt" in November 2013.

Recent Projects (2015–Present)

In October 2015, Nivea shared that she planned to release two albums at the same time. These would be through her own record label. One project was called The Randy Watson Collection. This would be an acoustic album. The second project, Mirrors, would be an R&B album.

In early 2018, she announced new music. She worked with Snypa on the song "This Way". In April, she released her new song "Circles" in Atlanta. On September 26, 2019, she released her album, Mirrors, which included "Circles".

In 2021, Nivea appeared on the reality show BET Presents: The Encore. She was on the show with other singers from popular girl groups.

On January 7, 2022, Nivea released a new song called "Virginia". This was her first new music in two years. Critics praised her vocals on the track.

In late 2022, Nivea confirmed she and singer Paula DeAnda are working on an album together. They had talked about this plan since 2020. In 2023, Nivea appeared on the dating reality show Queens Court.
