Nivea B. Hamilton (born March 24, 1982), who is known by her first name Nivea, is an American singer. She is famous for her R&B music and has released several albums. Her albums include Nivea (2001), Complicated (2005), Animalistic (2006), and Mirrors (2019).

In 2003, her song "Don't Mess with My Man" was nominated for a Grammy Award. This is one of the highest honors a musician can receive.

Early Life

Nivea was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and is the youngest of three sisters. She started singing in a church choir. As a young girl, she was a big fan of the singer Mariah Carey.

Nivea has said that she was very shy when she was younger. In an interview, she explained, "I never wanted anyone to hear me sing... my parents would turn down the radio [and I would automatically stop]."

Music Career

2000–2003: First Album and Big Hit

Nivea's career began in 2000 when she was featured on the hit song "Danger (Been So Long)" by the rapper Mystikal. Because the song was so popular, she signed a contract with Jive Records.

In 2001, she released her first solo song, "Don't Mess with the Radio". Her first album, called Nivea, came out in 2001 in other countries and in 2002 in the United States.

Her next single, "Don't Mess with My Man", was a huge success. It featured the R&B group Jagged Edge. The song reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This success helped her album sell many copies and earned her a Grammy Award nomination.

Her third single from the album was "Laundromat", which featured singer R. Kelly. Because of legal issues at the time, R. Kelly could not be in the music video. Instead, actor and comedian Nick Cannon appeared in the video.

2004–2008: More Albums

After her first album, Nivea started working on her second one. She met the music producer The-Dream, who helped produce most of the album.

In 2004, she released the single "Okay," which featured YoungBloodZ and Lil Jon. It became another hit for her.

Her second album, Complicated, was released on May 3, 2005. The album did well on the R&B charts. After this album, Nivea and her record label, Jive Records, decided to part ways in 2006.

Later that year, she signed with a new label, Formula Records. She released her third album, Animalistic, in Japan. She also shared some new songs on her MySpace page but took a break from music to focus on her family.

2009–2022: New Music and TV Shows

In 2010, Nivea released a new song called "Love Hurts". She also worked with other artists on their songs. In 2011, she released an acoustic EP called Nivea: Undercover.

In 2018, Nivea was featured on a song on Lil Wayne's album Tha Carter V. The album was very successful and reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The same year, she released her own single, "Circles".

Her fourth album, Mirrors, was released on September 26, 2019.

In 2021, Nivea appeared on the reality TV show BET Presents: The Encore. The show brought together female singers from popular 90s and 2000s groups to form a supergroup. In 2022, she released a new single called "Virginia".

Personal Life

Nivea has four children. She was in a relationship with rapper Lil Wayne and they were engaged in 2002. They later went their separate ways.

In 2004, Nivea married R&B singer and producer The-Dream. They have a daughter and twin sons together. They divorced in 2008.

After her divorce, Nivea and Lil Wayne got back together. They had a son, born in 2009. The couple broke off their engagement again in 2010 but have remained good friends. Their son also makes music under the name Lil Novi.

In 2023, Nivea appeared on the reality dating show Queens Court with Tamar Braxton and Evelyn Lozada.
