Early Life and Education
Noam Murro was born and grew up in Jerusalem, Israel. He studied design and architecture at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem.
In the early 1990s, after finishing his studies, Murro moved to New York. Even though he didn't study film in school, he dreamed of becoming a filmmaker. He learned a lot about movies by working at the Jerusalem Cinematheque. This is a place where films are shown and studied. He watched many movies there, sometimes two a day, for two years.
Today, he lives in Los Angeles with his wife and children.
Filmmaking Career
Noam Murro started his career as a director for advertising. He became very successful and was nominated six times for the DGA Awards, winning one in 2005. The DGA Awards are given by the Directors Guild of America for excellent directing.
He also helped start a company called Biscuit Films with Shawn Lacy Tessaro. This company has made many popular advertising campaigns for big brands. For example, in 2012, he directed ads for companies like Adidas, Nike, eBay, Volkswagen, and Stella Artois.
In 2008, Murro directed his first movie, Smart People. This was a comedy film that was shown at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
Later, in 2011, he was chosen to direct the movie A Good Day to Die Hard. However, he decided to leave that project to direct 300: Rise of an Empire instead. This movie is a sequel to the film 300.
