Starting as a Coach
Ueno started his coaching career at Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 1995. He worked there until 2003. During this time, he was mainly a coach for the main team and a manager for the youth teams. In 2004, he became the manager for the Japan U-20 national team.
Coaching at Kyoto Sanga and Zweigen Kanazawa
From 2005 to 2008, Ueno worked for Kyoto Purple Sanga (now Kyoto Sanga FC). He mostly served as a coach for their main team. In 2009, he moved to Regional Leagues club Zweigen Kanazawa.
