Nonières was once a small village and a type of local area called a commune in southern France. It was located in the Ardèche department. On January 1, 2019, Nonières joined with another area to form a new, larger commune named Belsentes.
What is a Commune?
In France, a commune is like a town or a local district. It is the smallest way that France divides up its land for local government. Each commune has its own mayor and local council. They manage things like schools, roads, and local services for the people living there. Sometimes, smaller communes join together to become bigger ones, like Nonières did. This can help them share resources and work together more easily.
