Norman Brown (born December 18, 1970) is an American smooth jazz guitarist and singer. He is known for his smooth and soulful guitar playing. He has released many albums and won a Grammy Award for his music.

Norman Brown's Musical Journey
Norman Brown was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1970. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. When he was eight years old, he became interested in his brother's acoustic guitar.
Early Inspirations
Norman was first inspired by rock legends like Jimi Hendrix and the band the Isley Brothers. Later, he discovered the jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery. Montgomery's unique style deeply influenced Norman, leading him to focus on jazz music.
Learning and Teaching Music
After high school, Norman went to the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. He graduated in 1984 and then became an instructor there. He taught music until 1998, sharing his skills with new musicians.

In 1994, Norman released After the Storm. This album was very popular and won the "Jazz Album of the Year" award from the Soul Train Music Awards. It stayed on the music charts for over two years. His next album, Better Days Ahead (1996), helped him reach even more fans. It also earned him the American Jazz Award.
New Record Labels and Collaborations
After a short break, Norman signed with Warner Bros. in 1999. He then released the album Celebration. In 2002, he formed a supergroup called BWB. He joined forces with saxophonist Kirk Whalum and trumpeter Rick Braun. They released their first album, Groovin'.

In 2007, Norman Brown had a number one smooth jazz radio hit. The song was called "Let's Take a Ride" from his album Stay with Me. His music has even been featured on The Weather Channel. His song "Lydian" was part of their 2008 jazz album. In 2011, Norman worked with Gerald Albright on the album 24/7. This album had a number one song, "In the Moment," and was nominated for a Grammy Award.
