Normandy is a neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It's a part of the big city of Philadelphia. You can find it east of Roosevelt Boulevard, near Woodhaven and Byberry Roads.
History of Normandy
Normandy was built between 1955 and 1956. The homes here are mostly single-family houses in the "Cape Cod" style. Many of these homes have been made bigger over the years. A fun fact is that all the streets in Normandy start with the letter "N"!
Before Normandy was built, the land belonged to Joseph Buckman and John Rieger. Joseph Buckman owned about 73 acres, and John Rieger owned about 18 acres. Nearby, there was also a place called Northeast Village. It was built during wartime to house military families.
There used to be a big Nabisco cookie and snack factory near Roosevelt Boulevard. It was taken down between 2017 and 2018. Now, a Wawa store is there, and a fun place called Topgolf is being built. There are also plans for new shops and restaurants.
