Norodom Suramarit was a King of Cambodia. He ruled from March 3, 1955, until he passed away in 1960. He was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on March 6, 1896.
He was the father of King Norodom Sihanouk. He was also the grandfather of Cambodia's current king, Norodom Sihamoni. His father was Prince Norodom Sutharot.
When his grandfather, King Norodom, died in 1904, his uncle Sisowath became king. Later, King Sisowath's son, Monivong, took the throne in 1927.
Suramarit married Sisowath Kosamak, who was King Monivong's daughter. After King Monivong died in 1941, Suramarit's son, Sihanouk, became the new king.
In 1955, King Sihanouk decided to step down. He gave the throne to his father, Norodom Suramarit. Suramarit was officially crowned king on March 6, 1956. This special day was also his 60th birthday.
After King Suramarit died in 1960, his son Sihanouk became the Chief of State. Suramarit's wife, Sisowath Kosamak, became Queen. King Suramarit was given a special title after his death. It was Preah Karuna Preah Norodom Suramarit Preah Moha Kachanakkot.

- He was made a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Cambodia in 1941.
Awards from Other Countries
- He received the Grand Commander of the Most Glorious Order of the Truth from Burma.
- He was honored by France with the Commander of the Legion of Honor in 1939.
- He also received the Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor from France.
- Japan gave him the Knight Grand Cordon of the Order of the Chrysanthemum.
- Laos honored him with the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Million Elephants and the White Parasol in 1955.
- Thailand gave him the Knight of the Order of the Royal House of Chakri.
- He received the Knight Grand Cordon of the Order of the Dragon of Annam from Vietnam.
- He also received the Knight Grand Cross of the National Order of Vietnam.
- Malaysia gave him the Honorary Recipient of the Order of the Crown of the Realm.
- The Soviet Union honored him with the Honorary Recipient of the Order of Suvorov, 1st class, on July 7, 1956.
- Czechoslovakia gave him the Knight Grand Cordon of the Order of the White Lion on July 14, 1956.
