From 1369 to 1375, the country of Siam (now Thailand) ruled Cambodia. The throne was empty again from 1369 to 1371.

In the 14th century, Siam took control of Cambodia until 1389.
In 1431, Siam defeated the Angkorean Empire. However, the Cambodian monarchy continued to exist, and Siam withdrew. The capital city and the royal family moved from Angkor to Phnom Penh.
