Mall History and Growth
NorthPark Mall first opened its doors on July 11, 1973. When it first opened, its main stores were JCPenney, Younkers, and Montgomery Ward. Montgomery Ward closed down in 2001. Two years later, Dillard's took its place.
Expanding the Mall
In 1981, the mall had a big expansion. This project cost millions of dollars. It added two more major stores: Sears and Petersen Harned Von Maur. Today, the mall has about 160 different shops. It also has five spaces for anchor stores. NorthPark Mall has been updated and improved many times over the years.
Fun Activities at the Mall
The mall offers fun things to do for kids. These include educational activities and games. Sometimes, you can even hear live piano music on weekends in April. The mall also hosts other regular events for visitors.
